Every October, we celebrate black history.

This month is dedicated to reflecting on important moments, people, and progress in black history, while acknowledging the difficulties the black community still faces today.

The theme for this year is ‘Time for Change: Actions Not Words’.

What does this mean?

It means to practice what we preach when it comes to racial equality.

Saying you support equal treatment and denounce racism is one thing, but it’s redundant and simply not enough without action.

Those who aren’t black have a responsibility to be an active ally, not a passive bystander. This is done by educating ourselves on the nuances of racism, or simply calling out discriminative behaviour no matter the environment.

We’ve made it clear that as a business, we’re passionate about upholding equality and diversity across the board. Whether that be through establishing our Inclusion Network, partnering with the #10,000 Black Interns scheme, or getting DIFERA-accredited.

Times like Black History Month remind us that there’s always work to do to build a better future, and we’re committed to doing what we can to make a difference.
