Feeling Good February: a round up

23 March 2023

Last month, we shook off that January feeling and went full steam ahead into Feel Good February.

Every year we host a physical challenge that gets our team on their feet for a good cause.

And Feel Good February was no different. It was all about getting active, healthy living, and looking after our mental wellbeing.

Do-5-ing our bit

The Do-5, Donate-5, Nominate-5 challenge that took both Saltgate and the nation by storm during the early days of lockdown made a return for Feel Good February.

CEO Simon Riley and the rest of our C-suite kicked the challenge off, and for every person who completed an activity, we pledged to donate to the appeals for the Ukraine crisis and the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

Not ones to shy away from a physical challenge, the team enthusiastically jumped straight in.

Hearing from an expert

Exercise is a powerful thing, so we partnered with Tom Marien, founder of outdoor and online fitness provider One Element, to learn more about how our bodies work.

He discussed the science of why it’s important to keep our bodies and our minds active, the impact it can have on our physical and mental wellbeing, and how to incorporate exercise into our busy routines.

The best way to look after ourselves starts with education, so it was a pleasure to work with Tom and learn from his expertise.

Well-rounded wellbeing

There are many factors that contribute to wellbeing, not just the physical, so we launched an enhanced benefits package that focused on flexibility with a human approach to work life balance.

Named Engage 222, it included a revamped remote working model, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to work outside jurisdictions.

Back in September at our cross-jurisdictional event, the Saltgate Summit, colleagues were divided into teams and asked to come up with an idea to strengthen our People proposition.

The winning group’s idea would be incorporated into a real-life initiative, so with collaboration and feedback from our team, Engage 222 came to be.

As a People-first organisation, we’re so excited to see how our colleagues make the most of their enhanced benefits.

We’re thrilled that a grand total of £880 was raised through our colleagues’ participation in the Do-5, Donate-5, Nominate-5 challenge.

This will be split equally between the Ukraine and Turkey-Syria earthquake appeals.

We’re pleased to use our annual wellbeing initiative to support victims of these tragedies, and grateful for our team’s enthusiasm in getting involved for a good cause.
