Saltgate proudly sponsors the Jersey Colts

The Jersey Colts bring together the most talented and promising young rugby players on the island.

Our partnership dates back to 2015; Saltgate supports the team so under-18 players can compete in the Sussex Colts Premiership, providing a pathway from junior to adult rugby.

The players’ talents are supported by giving them access to facilities at the new Strive Health Club in St Peter. England Rugby’s head coach, Eddie Jones, was even impressed by the gym during his visit to the island in July.

Nurturing local talent

The dream for Colts players is to represent the Jersey Reds as professional rugby players; a feat recently achieved by islander Harry Doolan, who signed a three-year pro-contract in 2020 after excelling with the Colts and Athletic teams.

The Colts are committed to nurturing young sporting talent and instilling dedication, teamwork, and resilience.

Equipped with such characteristics, many ex-Colts players go on to forge successful careers in financial services.

Shared values

A successful partnership is based on sharing similar values – the Colts mirror Saltgate’s passion for development and opportunity, as shown by their new inclusion fund.

The fund will provide financial support for kit and travel expenses to make sure that rugby remains an accessible sport for all – regardless of income.

The future looks bright for the Colts – with restrictions lifting, they’re able to get back onto the field, represent Jersey, and live up to the island’s reputation of hosting fantastic sporting talent.
