Saltgate partners with diversity initiative #10,000 Black Interns

At Saltgate, we understand that championing inclusion is about walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

 

There’s a disproportionate disparity between the number of black and minority ethnic financial professionals and their white counterparts.

 

In 2021, fewer than one in 10 management roles in London were held by ethnic minority staff, the Financial Conduct Authority found.

 

And almost half of black and minority ethnic finance workers in London have experienced discrimination at work and seen slower career progression than their white colleagues, according to diversity advocate group reboot.

 

So what can we do to address this?

 

As a financial institution, we must build a diverse and inclusive work environment, and strive to be the change we want to see.

 

It’s why we’ve partnered with #10,000 Black Interns.

 

The programme aims to offer 10,000 internships over five years, ‘transforming the horizons and prospects of young black people in the UK’, and fight the inequality present across industries.

 

Through the #10KBI scheme, we’ve welcomed two bright and motivated interns to our London office – Maria and Desha.
